Greenway

Along the old mining railway line

At the foot of Aiako Harria lie the Arditurri mines. Roman in origin, they remained in operation until the end of the last century. Today they stand as a reminder of over two thousand years of almost uninterrupted mining history.

A labyrinth of galleries, the upper one of which can still be visited today. From San Sebastián you can get there by bike along the cycle path that follows the route used, until the last century, by the trains linking the Arditurri mines with the port of Pasaia.

The route

From Gros we follow the bidegorri towards Pasaia and Errenteria, where the Arditurri greenway begins, climbing the Oiartzun valley with barely any gradient up to the mining complex. There you can visit the interpretation centre and the main gallery (check opening times at arditurri.com).

The return is along the same route. It's a very rewarding ride for families.
