The Northern Way
A walk for everyone
To the west of the city, towards the village of Orio, lies Mount Igeldo. It's the biggest mountain in the city, and the second stage of the Northern Way of St James runs along its slopes.
We suggest an easy walk for everyone that starts from the upper part of the mountain and follows a fairly flat path along the Way of St James close to the coast, ending with a descent to the beach at Orio, a fishing village with a strong seafaring tradition.

Getting there and back
You can get up to Igeldo on the number 16 city bus from the centre, or on the funicular from Ondarreta. The return from Orio is easy on the Euskotren train (about 30 minutes to Donostia) or the UK11 bus.
- Comfortable footwear and water
- Perfect combined with a swim at Orio beach
- In Orio, try the grilled sea bream
